| ASK gets society closer together |
| Abrona is an organization which helps people with mental health problems. ASK helps them organize volunteers to help with social activities. Care institutions often have major problems keeping in contact with volunteers, who are often keen to do more if asked. ASK can help. |
Another care service which uses ASK is Tante Kwebbel, an initiative by which neighbours help each other. People who are in need for a helping hand can call a number and the call is redirected to a neighbour who is available to do the shopping, change a light bulb, let out the dog or lend a helping hand in other ways. Many elderly or physically disabled people are dependent on others. There are also many people who would be happy to assist them. In practice it can be difficult for these people to get in touch with each other and this is where ASK can help. ASK takes care of the connection between the volunteers and the people in need for help.
For more information about the Tante Kwebbel initiative, you can visit www.tantekwebbel.nl. The initiative has been featured on national television and a video on Tante Kwebbel can be found in the downloads section. |
